Wild forward Ryan Hartman fined $4,250 for showing middle finger at Oilers Evander Kane

Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman was fined $4,250, the most allowed under the league's collective bargaining agreement, for an inappropriate gesture directed toward Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane during the Wild's 5-1 win Tuesday night.

Following a scrum involving both Hartman and Kane, as both players were being escorted away by referees, Hartman then flipped the middle finger toward Kane. After the game, Hartman told the media that whatever fine he'd have to pay would be "well worth it".

"It goes to show, we had five guys in there," Hartman said. "They didn’t have one guy in there to help him. I don’t think any of their guys are going to defend him."

Hartman, 27, has 29 goals and 56 points in 72 games played this season. Kane, who signed as a free agent with Edmonton in January, has 16 goals and 29 points through 35 games with the Oilers.
